Summer Hill is situated at an altitude of 2123 m (6964 ft) above sea level, 5 km from Shimla railway station on the Kalka-Shimla railway line. This hill is one of the most beautiful and mesmerizing hills out of the seven hills that make up Shimla in the state of Himachal Pradesh. Summer Hill is a place on the outskirts of Shimla which is also known as Potters Hill. Visitors take a nature walk in the serene surroundings of this beautiful place. The place is frequented by visitors from across the country for its serene, pleasant atmosphere and the lush greenery that dominates the region. The dense forests, lofty mountains are a welcoming place to get in touch with nature and enjoy the most amongst the various fauna and flora. 'Manorville Haveli' and 'Himachal Pradesh University are situated on this hill. Filled with pine and deodar trees, this place gives nature lovers to enjoy the breathtaking landscapes. That is why in the olden times, potters used to gather at this place to make pottery. Today in the modern era, due to lesser use of pottery, potters no longer come here. Tourists going to Summer Hill come here by toy train running every hour from Shimla railway station and after spending some time here they go back to Shimla by train. If you want to come here by road, then you can also come here by cab. This place is equally important as the other famous places of Shimla, without visiting here, a trip to Shimla is considered incomplete. Anyway, the pleasure of traveling in a train on the top of the mountain can be enjoyed only in Shimla Summer Hill, from a cave on top of the mountains on the heights of the Himalayas.
